SoCal Voices Newsletter
May 2024
Welcome to the May edition of the SoCal Voices Newsletter!
I want to tell you about the great guests on the podcast this month but first, I have some news about a special election series I'm planning for the fall, and how you can be part of it.
Young Voters series
I'm looking for a few young voters to join me on SoCal Voices Podcast to talk about the upcoming presidential election. We'll discuss the issues that are most important to you as a young voter, and how those issues will influence your vote in November.
To be considered for the show, you'll need to meet the following criteria:
- Live in Southern California
- 30 years old or younger
- Currently registered to vote
- Willing to discuss 2024 election issues and candidates
Interested? Click the button below to complete the contact form. Selected guests will be notified by July 30. I look forward to hearing from you!
Mother-Daughter Relationships
May is a month of graduations, proms and celebrating moms. In honor of Mother's Day, I invited mother-daughter therapist Hilary Mae to speak with me on the podcast about strengthening the mother-daughter bond. In the episode Healing the Mother-Daughter Relationship, Hilary shares her experience being raised by a loving, present, entrepreneurial mother, and how that influenced her work helping mothers and daughters in their relationships with each other. Interested in improving your mother-daughter relationship? Listen to the episode at the link below or on your favorite podcast streaming service.
Persevering through anxiety
Writer Jessica Keith of San Diego joins me on the podcast this month to talk about her debut memoir, Saying Inshallah with Chutzpah.
Jessica's book is a humorous and poignant coming-of-age story about her unorthodox path dealing with anxiety while navigating an inter-faith/cross-cultural landscape in her professional and personal life, and finding the resilience to persevere. Her journey can serve as inspiration to many. My episode with Jessica drops May 16. Don't miss it!
Miss Tee
Sometimes you talk to people who are so genuinely living their purpose, your faith in humanity is renewed. That's how I felt speaking with Tamaira “Miss Tee" Sandifer, Founder of Studio T Arts and Entertainment. On the podcast, “Miss Tee" shares how dance helped her cope with the challenges of her childhood and find success. Today, she uses her life experience and skills to help young people find their purpose through the performing arts and related careers.
On the episode, you'll hear how Tamaira is making a positive difference in the lives of young people in California and across the country. I hope you will be as moved as I was by her energy, loving spirit, and determination. Be sure to check out the episode when it drops May 30.
Memorial Day
Memorial Day honors men and women who died while serving in our nation's armed forces. There are many meaningful ways to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country, including attending a Memorial Day event in SoCal. Check your local municipality's website or community newspaper for information on Memorial Day observances near you.
